a dose of my own medicine

I have been blessed with some great clients that have been having awesome success with their fitness goals. They have been losing 1-2 pounds every single week. That is awesome progress for long term success!

Now, what is that saying about how the painter’s house always needs painting? Anyway, even once you reach your fitness goals, the game is not over (sorry to be the bearer of bad news). You always need to keep your eye on the ball!

The beginning of this year was a busy one. I launched this blog, my daughter turned 18,… there just seemed to be a endless parade of gatherings and parties from the end of December until the end of February. When you are hosting parties and going to parties & events, you are bound to have those times where you are eating a little of this and a little of that, things you do not normally eat. That’s just part of life. Well, it all adds up!

I was doing my normal exercise, but I found myself up a little on the scale and in body fat (which, needless to say, was not part of my 2011 fitness goals). I realize in the grand scheme of things a pound or two is not a big deal, but if you let it go and do not address it, it will add up to be a big deal. So, I decided to take some action!

I sat myself down and said “Self, you need to take some of your own medicine.” I refocused on my food habits and added 2-3 additional sessions on the treadmill each week and before I knew it, I was back on track. In fact, I may have over shot it and actually reached my personal 2011 goals! Which is nice, and since it is just March, I may have to adjust that goal down a bit (or what will I do the rest of the year)!

The point is, nobody is perfect and if you stray off the path now and then, its no big deal, just get right back on the path. The trick is just making sure you are on the right path to begin with!
