what happens in vegas stays in vegas (except what you eat and drink ;) – Day 2

August 16, 2011 by tk

Survived another day in Vegas!   Started day 2 with the usual breakfast – oatmeal from Starbucks. Whenever traveling, that is always a safe bet.  I get just top the oatmeal off with the nuts and throw out the dried fruit and brown sugar.  A great way to start your day!

Breakfast:

Went to the gym and did a workout.  Not to burn calories, but to get my muscles moving and in the need for fuel.  My goal was just to try and hit all the muscle groups and get some cardio in.  Here is what I did:

3 sets chest flies
3 sets chest press
3 sets shoulder press
3 sets rows
3 sets lat pull downs
3 sets bicep cascades holds (10-8-6-4-2)
3 sets bicep dips
3 sets uneven pushups
100 butt lift crunches (not sure if that is the name or not)
20 min jog on the treadmill

Snack:

After workout, snack was an Amazing Meal drink and Atkins bar.   At the pool, our friends brought out some veggies leftover from the ride, so I had some of those.

Lunch:

Had lunch at the pool, which is always a challenge.  I went with the veggie burger and fruit side (as opposed to fries) and I removed the huge bun it was served on. It turned out to be yummy and filling!

Snack:

Back at the room after a day at the pool had some more raw nuts.  Pre-dinner we stopped for some appetizers.  The four of us split 3 sliders and some sweet potato fries.  I ate some of the fries and 1 of the sliders with the bun (the bun was white and turned right to sugar in my system, but good thing it was small.) Ok, this was not the best choice, bad boy!

Dinner:

Went to Little Buddha’s in the Palms.  They have great food and great service.  We shared edamame as an appetizer and then we each ordered a sushi roll.  I had the Little Buddha Roll, Karen had the King’s Roll, we split both and they were both awesome! At this stop, the only ‘bad’ thing was the salt on the edamame & the white rice in the sushi rolls, but overall, not too much to feel guilty about and I almost forgot to take the picture!

Drinks:  Just like ordering off the menu for food, I learned to do the same for drinks.  I wanted to have some of the signature fun drinks so I just ordered them without the syrup. When you do this, they generally get a lot less offensive on your bottom line (and, to be honest, they still taste great)!

Late night snack:  We ended up closing the Voodoo rooftop club at the Rio, so we got back to the room late and I was a little hungry from the dancing and probably from the workout earlier in the day, too.  So I ended up having some raw nuts before bed.

OK that was it for day 2 – catch you tomorrow!
