One day I found myself watching MTV Cribs, not sure why just channel surfing I guess. Â Anyway, they were showing a rappers house (I forgot who it was exactly, someone like MC Lil Young Busta Vanilla Hammer or something like that). He had this huge kitchen and the only thing he had on the granite counter top was this nice-looking fruit bowl and he said this was how he kept in good shape. Â Well, he was in good shape and at the time I for sure needed to eat better, so I went out that day to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought the biggest fruit bowl I could find (it was actually a salad bowl) and I placed it on the center of our kitchen island and made sure it was full of nice-looking, interesting fruit.
Before I purchased the bowl, we kept fruit in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator where it was not visible or easily accessible. It usually went bad before anyone even touched it. After the bowl, when I came into the kitchen I would see the fruit and grab it instead of chips or something less healthy in the cupboard. It was amazing how that fruit disappeared!
Now, every Saturday, I fill that same fruit bowl (Actually, I fill that bowl PLUS a back-up bowl AND the fruit drawer in the refrigerator) and by the following Saturday it is all gone! Â The whole family now enjoys better snacking all because of MTV Cribs!
