What!? Eat MORE? Move LESS?
I know what you are saying. I have this backwards, right? Â It is supposed to be “move more, eat less.” Â This is what we have been told for a long time now, but it is not working. We are not losing the weight and most importantly we are not keeping it off.
It is time to stop the madness. Â If something is not working – stop doing it.
We have all heard this quote:Â Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Â
Well, have you ever been on a diet (eat less) and exercise (move more) program and lost weight and then gained it all back? Â (I know I have.) But, eating less and moving more is not the answer to long-term permanent weight loss.
So, don’t do that anymore.
It is time to get smart and makeÂ permanent change in your life once and for all. Â By eating less and moving more, you will lose weight, but it will be temporary at best. By eating less and moving more, you are just addressing the symptoms of your problem and not the underlying problem that is causing the weight gain. What that underlying problem is can be different for everyone and it can beÂ multi-faceted. But, there is a good chance it is food related and you are just eating something that is not right for your body. Once you find out what that is and address the underlying problem, the symptom (weight gain) will take care of itself.
Most of us are overfed and undernourished. Think about what that means. Our bodies are starving for nutrients, yet we are consuming anÂ abundanceÂ of calories. Â So, you can see that the strategy of eating less (giving our bodies even less nutrients) and asking our bodies for more in return (exercise requires more from our bodies) may not be the best approach.
At one point in my journey, I was working out 8 hours per week. This was just to maintain my body weight (I was not even my at my ultimate goal yet). Â I knew there was something not right about this. I knew I could not maintain this for the long run. First of all, my body would get worn out and secondly, that was just way too much time to spend in the gym.
Once I started eating MORE of the good foods and slowly moved away from the bad foods, I was not only able to maintain my body composition, but I was able to reach my ultimate goals with ease! Â I was able to take my workouts from 8 hours a week, down to 2 1/2 hours per week. Â Not only that, I started feeling even better (which is amazing because I had no idea you could feel better than awesome).
When you get your food and exercise aligned – everything changes. Your exercise time is more efficient, you feel great all the time, you are never tired, you have energy all the time, and you never get sick. Â The only time I can remember feeling so great was when I was a young child. Â You cannot get this feeling by eating less and moving more. Â In fact, eating less and exercising more can often make you even more tired and with even less energy.
You have to eat MORE of the good foods (that your body needs and requires) and you have to slowly eat less of the stuff that is not right for your body. Â Once you start making these small changes, your body will take it from there and you too can find that right balance of food and exercise that will give you the body you have always wanted.
